As the battle against COVID-19 continues, Nigeria has recorded 89 new cases of the disease in eight states and the federal capital territory (FCT).
This was announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its daily update for Saturday, October 30, 2021.
According to the agency, Bauchi recorded the most cases on Saturday with 22 new positive samples, followed by Edo with 17 and FCT with 17.
Other states that recorded new infections include Lagos (15), Plateau (10), Kaduna (4), Taraba (2), Bayelsa (1) and Delta (1).
With no deaths reported on Saturday, the total number of coronavirus casualties remains 2,895.
However, 118 new recoveries were recorded on Saturday, and according to the agency, the figure included a backlog of discharged patients from Taraba state (46); Bauchi (5) and Lagos (1).
A total of 211,887 COVID-19 infections have now been confirmed since the index case on February 27, 2020 — out of which 203,080 persons have been discharged, and 5,785 are currently active cases.
