A teenager suspected to be dealing in Indian hemp has been by the Amotekun Corps in the Sabo area of Osogbo, Osun State.
According to PUNCH, a resident, who identified himself only as Olatoye and claimed to have witnessed the arrest, said Amotekun operatives were on the trail of the suspect for some hours before he was eventually caught with a big sack filled with cannabis.
Olatoye explained that the suspect was believed to be working for a wanted drug baron based in Osogbo, adding that he called his boss on the phone to come and effect his release after he was arrested on Saturday.
The Field Commander, Osun Amotekun Corps, Amitolu Shittu, who confirmed the arrest said the suspect had been handed over to the Department of State Services for further action.
He said, “The suspect was caught with a 50kg sack filled with Indian hemp. He was working for a known drug peddler being trailed by security agents. He even called his boss and told him he had been arrested and that he should come and secure his release, but the boss did not show up.
“After our men profiled him, we took him to the headquarters of the Department of State Services in Osogbo for further action.
“We hope to sustain our clampdown on criminals in every part of Osun State.”
