Police recover locally-made explosives from IPOB/ESN in Anambra

Locally made explosives

Anambra State police investigators have discovered a locally produced RPG bomb and a hand grenade from the scene of last weekend’s gunfight between militants and security operatives.

WITHIN NIGERIA reports that last Saturday, alleged ESN militants ambushed a joint security convoy commanded by CP Echeng Echeng, the Commissioner of Police.

When the explosive devices were discovered, the CP sent out detectives to examine the scene of the shootout for information that could aid the inquiry aimed at unravelling the identities and missions of the gunmen, according to a police source.

“A huge breakthrough was recorded when a bag was recovered in a gutter near where one of the shooters was gunned down,” the person said.

“This prompted the investigators to immediately notify the Command, which dispatched its Bomb Disposal Squad to Nnobi Junction.

“The explosive ordinances were defused and retrieved for analysis,” the police source stated, “while the handset is being processed for critical intelligence on the gang of savage gunmen.”
