JUST IN: Lagos building agency boss suspended over collapse of high rise

Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has suspended the general manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), Gbolahan Oki over collapse of high rise.

The suspension of LASBCA boss, Oki comes hours after the collapse of a 21-storey building in the Ikoyi area of the state.

WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that Obafemi Hamzat, the deputy governor, said while addressing journalists at the site of the collapsed building on Tuesday morning that the owner of the building got approval for 21 floors.

On Monday, Gbolahan Oki, the general manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), said the government approved 15 floors for the 21-storey building.

“He got an approval for a 15-storey building and he exceeded his limit. I am on ground here and the materials he used are so inferior and terrible,” Mr Oki had said.
