Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has rewarded a young student of Ogun descent, who made significant strides in her tertiary education – Overall Best Graduating Medical Student.

The student who is Dr Joy Oyinlola Adesina made history by being the Best Graduating Student ever produced in the history of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, OAU, Ile-Ife.

The governor made the announcement today at the State House, Abeokuta, where he received her and her family. He acknowledged her as a good ambassador of the state and a role model to be emulated by youths of the state.

Withinnigeria reports that Gov. Abiodun also rewarded Oyinlola with cash gifts of N5 Million, a house (bungalow), and a free scholarship for her residency programme at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, OOUTH.

The Governor also charged the lady to continue to be a role model to students looking up to her, as her responsibility has increased. He charged her not to relent but be more focused to attain the greater heights expected of her.

He commented that the reward given to the outstanding student is in line with the State Government’s commitment to reward the hard work of indigenes within and outside the state.

It was an emotional moment as the parents of the lady shed tears of joy seeing the efforts of their daughter recognized by the number one man of the state.

Earlier in the year, the governor offered a reward of a two-bedroom bungalow and a sum of 2 million naira to Oladimeji Sotunde, an indigene of the state who emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student of the Lagos State University.

The Governor equally announced that his administration will set an Education Endowment Fund with seed money of N5m, in honour of Faith Odunsi, a student of the Ambassadors College, Ota, who emerged winner in the Global Open Mathematics Tournament. The Governor noted that the awardees had further put Ogun on the global pedestal, hence, the need to celebrate them.

Below are the pictures and video of the Governor’s presentation to Dr Oyinola Adesina
