Suspected cultists reportedly hack Okada rider to death in Ogun

Suspected cultists reportedly hacked a commercial motorcyclist to death in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The okada rider was said to have been matcheted on the head, in the presence of onlookers, near the new Kuto bridge in the Abeokuta metropolis, leaving him in the pool of his blood.

According to DAILY POST, eyewitness account has it that the incident happened around 2:30pm on Tuesday.

It was said that the assailants covered their faces with masks, as they suddenly stormed the area in a convoy of about three bikes.

“They chased the young man from the NNPC – under bridge along Oke Mosan road, to the densely populated Kuto area.

“Some of the hoodlums got hold of the victim at the Kuto junction while navigating the garage route and matcheted him on the head,” a source said.

Traders, okada riders, taxi drivers and pedestrians in the area were said to have scampered for safety, just as the suspected cultists disappeared into thin air.

Another source, a motorcyclist, who did not want his name mentioned, disclosed that the victim was shot in the head before he was later macheted by the hoodlums.

“With the manner of their operations, I am not sure the guy is just an okada rider. He might be a rival cultist, who those boys are after his life.

“They hacked him and ran away. Some police officers trailed them alongside the route,” he said.

Efforts to get comments from the State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, were unsuccessful as he neither answered calls from our correspondent nor responded to a text message sent to his phone.
