The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of electoral materials to the 21 local government areas of Anambra state ahead of the November 6 governorship election.
National commissioner and chairman, information, voter education and publicity committee, Festus Okoye led the INEC team in charge of the distribution.
They are currently said to be at the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Awka, the state capital, handing over the materials to the electoral officers.
WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Mahmood Yakub, on Wednesday said all sensitive materials for Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra State were in Awka, the state capital.
Apparently debunking the previous announcement by the commission that sensitive materials for the November 6 poll in the state would be brought into the state from the INEC store in neighbouring Imo State, Yakub who spoke to the candidates in the poll during an interactive session in Awka said the materials were safe.
