Two professors and other members of the University of Abuja’s faculty who were kidnapped recently have been released.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that some criminal elements suspected to be kidnappers had invaded the staff quarters of the university on Monday and whisked some residents to an unknown destination.
The kidnappers called the victims’ relatives a day after their kidnapping and demanded N300 million as a condition for their release.
However, DSP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Federal Capital Territory Command, verified their release to newsmen on Friday morning.
According to her, the development resulted from the command’s efforts in a cooperative operation with other security agencies.
She claimed that certain individuals connected to the incident had been apprehended by security personnel.
The PPRO, on the other hand, was unable to say whether a ransom was paid before to their release.
