The contract of ex-Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel with Kuwait Sporting Club has been terminated.
Kuwait SC made the announcement on Thursday via their Instagram account.
Mikel was four months into a one-year deal with Kuwait SC, whom he had joined on a free transfer in July.
The former Super Eagles captain was named captain of Kuwait SC soon after signing a contract with the club.
Despite the fact that the 34-year-old is leaving Kuwait SC without making his league debut, he did play for the Brigadiers in the AFC Cup.
Mikel had played for Chelsea, Middlesbrough and Stoke City, Trabzonspor and Tianjin Jinmen Tiger in the past.
He recorded 372 appearances in all competitions during a ten-and-a-half-year stint at Stamford Bridge.
