NDA attack: We have not arrested masterminds yet – Academy

Sergeant Torsobo Solomon

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has clarified the story on the arrest of the suspected masterminds of the August 2021 attack on its grounds.

On Monday, it was widely reported that an army sergeant named Torsabo Solomon had been detained for his role in the recent attack on the NDA.

However, Major Bashir Jajira, spokesman for the Nigeria Defence Academy, said on Monday that the report should be ignored because sergeant Tosabo is unrelated to the incident, has nothing to do with the Academy, and is not being held.

However, he said efforts are still ongoing to bring the perpetrators off the atack to book.

Major Jajira in the statement said:

“The attention of the Nigerian Defence Academy has been drawn to a viral publication on social media regarding the arrest of one Sgt Torsabo Solomon for his involvement in the security breach in Nigerian Defence Academy and was conveyed to the Academy for investigation.

“This is to inform the general public that the above named person is not in the Nigerian Defence Academy’s custody as alleged and has no connection with the Academy.

The Nigerian Defence Academy is a Military Training Institution and not an Investigative Security Agency. The general public is hereby advised to disregard this misinformation and refer to relevant Investigative Security Agencies for clarification.

The Nigerian Defence Academy wishes to reassure the general public that the perpetrators of the security breach on the Nigerian Defence Academy architecture will sooner rather than later be apprehended.”

Recall that on 24 August, 2021, WITHIN NIGERIA reported how bandits attacked the Nigerian Defence Academy where they killed two officers and abducted one Major Stephen Dantong, who later regained his freedom after three weeks in captivity.
