Operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara Command have arrested two cattle rustlers in Oro-Ago, Ifelodun Local Government Area of the State.
According to report, the apprehended suspects were among the rustlers who have been terrorizing some communities in Kwara State in recent times.
The spokesman of NSCDC, Babawale Afolabi said two of the three-man gang of rustlers were arrested on Tuesday night by the Miyetti Allah Vigilante group during an attack on a Herdman, Raura Mohammed in his camp in Oro-Ago while one other member of the gang escaped into the bush.
He gave the names of the arrested suspects as Abdullahi Ideh (20) and Kadiri Babuga (24), while the third suspect identified as Baba Sanda escaped into the bush.
Babawale said, “The rustlers attacked the herdsman with dangerous weapons and left him unconscious before made away with his three cows valued at 1.5 million naira.”
The PRO stressed further that the Miyetti Allah Vigilante group and officers of the NSCDC in the locality were able to arrest two of the cattle rustlers while the third member of the gang is still at large.
“Two of the fleeing cattle rustlers were later arrested along Ahun- Ikerin Ayuba road by the Miyetti Allah Vigilante group with back up with the officers of the NSCDC in Oro Ago Divisional office”, he added.
He said that the suspects were in NSCDC custody and would face prosecution after the completion of their investigation while an effort was being made to arrest the third suspect who had escaped into the bush.
Recall that a Fulani herdsman, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello nearly lost his life on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, as he was attacked by unknown men believed to be cattle rustlers at Ahun Ruga village in Oro-Ago in Ifelodun local government area of Kwara state.
The rustlers allegedly left him with multiple machete cuts and later went away with 15 cows stolen from his herd of cattle.
In another development, NSCDC has arrested one Buba Bindiga over an alleged matchet attack on one Hassan Sidi at Moshe Gada village in Kaiama local government area of the State.
NSCDC spokesman, Babawale said that the suspect attacked the victim and left him with deep matchet cuts during a quarrel between the two in the village on Tuesday.
According to the PRO, the cause of the misunderstanding that led to the attack has not been established by the NSCDC who has taken the suspect to its custody for further questioning.
“On Tuesday 16/11/2021 at about 18:15 hours there was a case of assault and attempted murder was reported at our Moise Gada outpost in Kaima concerning one Buba Mai Bindiga who was accused of attacking one Sidi Hassan of Gaga road near Moise Gada.
“The victim was left with multiple deep matchet cuts and lost too much blood which left him unconscious.”
Babawale said that the victim was taken to an undisclosed hospital where he was being treated.
