The growing concerns to get a suitable replacement of Gernot Rohr have been discussed in different media platforms.
Complete Sports recently reported that NFF was in a meeting considering the position of Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, as his disengagement may be officially announced soon.
Also, Vanguard Newspaper reported an ongoing meeting, aimed at engaging the NFF to contact Rohr’s replacement and tidy up on his compensation.
Following this series of meeting, the identify of the possible replacement of Rohr was revealed by NFF media officer. The statement reads as thus:
“They (NFF) have contacted a coach from Eastern Europe to take over from Rohr,”
This statement was from former Super Eagles goalkeeper and media officer, Peterside Idah, on SuperSport TV programme Soccer Africa Thursday night.
Peterside went further to say that:
“I know the coach, but they (NFF) have not given me permission to announce the man.”
Recall that that Gernot Rohr was appointed to be the coach of the Nigeria’s Super Eagles in August 2016. The 68-year-old football expert signed a contract extension in May, 2020.
It is important to reiterate that Gernot Rohr had led the Super Eagles to a third place finish at the 2019 Africa Cup of in Egypt.
