Alhaji Lawal Usman, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kaduna has called on the federal government to adopt technology and innovations in tackling insecurity in the country to get a better result.
This call was made by Usman popularly called ‘Mr LA’ when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria in Zaria on Sunday.
He acknowledged that the security agencies were trying their best in tackling the challenge.
“The armed forces are trying their best in securing the country and protecting Nigerians against attacks by bandits and terrorists. But somehow government needs to change its tactics, with current innovations in the world, the use of technology is crucial in addressing the country’s security challenge.
“We have the technology now that can monitor everywhere, satellites that can pinpoint locations of criminals and drones can be sent to deal with them.
“I think the government must explore the use of these technologies like drones and satellite to tackle this problem once and for all, you will be able to monitor bandits you don’t need to deploy soldiers in these places,” Usman said.
He also advised the federal government to overhaul its security architecture for better results. Usman said that the government must act fast to address the problem so that the country can move on towards development.
“What Nigerians need now is to feel secure in their country because we can’t move forward without security, I appeal to the government to act quickly towards ending the problem, ” he said.
