Hotels in Anambra state have been ordered by the police to henceforth promptly submit their guest lists daily to the nearest divisional police station in their areas.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, who disclosed this in a statement in Awka, the state capital, on Sunday, also asked proprietors of private/public hospitals in the state to promptly report anyone with bullet wounds or any related injuries in their facilities to the police.
Ikenga said the measures were part of efforts to curtail security challenges and enhance public safety and peace in the state during the Yuletide.
The state read, “Parents/guardians are advised to pay closer attention to activities of their children/wards.
“Members of the public are urged to desist from engaging in jungle justice and to exercise restraint always.
“They should endeavor to take any suspect apprehended to the nearest police station, as this would afford the police the opportunity to conduct appropriate investigation and bring them to justice.”
The Police PRO restated that the state government’s ban on tainted vehicles and covered number plates subsisted.
He urged members of the public to report any police infringement by calling the command’s dedicated telephone lines.
