Kidnappers have reportedly released three out of the six abducted persons from Lemna Community in Calabar Municipality of Cross River State after an alleged payment of ransoms.
It was gathered that the kidnapped victims were released in far away Esuk Mba (a beach market) in Akpabuyo LGA of the State yesterday and have returned to their families.
One of the kidnapped victims has been identified as Emmanuel Ashibel of the Department of Due Process and Procurement, Cross River State.
A member of the local vigilante, while lamenting the ordeal of the victims, called on the Cross River State Government to help increase security presence in the area.
The community officials also disclosed that they have apprehended a suspected informant for the kidnappers.
One of the officials said the suspect was apprehended by a joint task force of security operatives in the Lemna Community in the early hours of yesterday.
The suspect, who was said to have paraded himself as a mentally deranged person, was found clearing road blocks mounted by local vigilante groups in the area.
More information gathered indicated that three waiting speed boats possibly brought the suspected kidnappers.
They sped off on receiving news of the arrest of the suspected informant.
It would be recalled that that three weeks ago, the kidnappers stormed the beach community twice in two weeks where they abducted the six residents.
Commissioner of police in the State, Aminu Alhassan said his men have been deployed to the Lemna community.
