Akinyemi Oluwafemi, a student of Kings College in Lagos State, has emerged as the overall best in the just concluded West African Senior School Certificate Examination in Nigeria.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that the West African Examination Council (WAEC) had on November 22nd, released the results for this year.
Mr Patrick Areghan, Head of the Council’s Nigeria National Office, stated in a statement that 65.24 percent of applicants received credit or above in a minimum of five (5) subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
According to Areghan, out of 1,560,261 million applicants who took the test, 1,398,370 million, or 89.62 percent, received credit or above in a minimum of five disciplines (i.e., with or without English Language and/or Mathematics).
However, Akinyemi Oluwafemi, according to his school had nine distinctions in the examination.
He wrote the following subjects: Data processing, Economics, Mathematics, English language, Civil Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Computer studies.
