One person has reportedly died and another left in a critical condition after a clash between some youth and police in Ghana.

It was gathered that the clash started after some Tema West Municipal Assembly officials attempted to reclaim the Kotobabi Market land.

According to GhanaWeb, squatters at the enclave resisted attempts by the police to move them away.

It’s been alleged that the market, popularly known as Kotobabi Market, has become an enclave for nefarious activities including commercial sex activities.

Tema West Municipal Executive, Anna Adukwei Addo, told journalists that, “There were about 70 guys over here, they attacked the engineer, they attacked the police officers over here so because they even had to call for reinforcement and that is what you can see now.

“Some of them tried pulling the police officers, some even tried to slap them and as a result of that two people were shot, one is currently dead, the other one is still at the hospital.”

Some suspects, mostly Nigerians, were arrested by the police during the clash.
