Unknown gunmen have reportedly attacked Etekwuru community in Ohaji-Egbema LGA of Imo state which resulted into the killing of two and injury of many.
According to report, a number of people were also injured while several properties were destroyed in an attack that happened in the early hours of Wednesday.
Speaking on the development, the traditional ruler of the community, Kenneth Okereke confirmed the attack on Wednesday morning.
The traditional ruler called for security operatives to be deployed in the area.
The police spokesperson, Micheal Abattem did not respond to calls and text messages to comment on the attack.
The incident is the latest in a series of attacks in the south-east state.
The attack comes weeks after gunmen reportedly attacked the palace of the traditional ruler and set ablaze his vehicle.
Three traditional rulers in October were killed after gunmen invaded Nnenasa community, Njaba LGA of the state. The monarchs were said to be holding a meeting in the area when the gunmen attacked them.
