Following the drama that ensued after the UEFA Champions League last round-16 draw on Monday, December 13, the UEFA has agreed to a redo of the draw at 2 pm GMT blaming some technicalities.
Taking to its verified Twitter page, the organizers of the UEFA Champions League, one of the most prestigious football competitions in the World, cited “technical problem” as a reason for the redo. The body wrote;
Following a technical problem with the software of an external service provider that instructs the officials as to which teams are eligible to play each other, a material error occurred in the draw for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
As a result of this, the draw has been declared void and will be entirely redone at 1500 CET.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that in the earlier draw, released Monday morning, arch-rivals, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were pit against each other in an epic match after Paris Saint-Germain, PSG, was drew against Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League.
