Gunmen on Tuesday killed three persons in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
The unidentified persons were gunned down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Junction in the evening.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, could not be reached to confirm the incident.
A Police source which confirmed the incident, disclosed that it was cult-related.
The source said the incident happened at about 5pm, adding that the Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, has deployed men to investigate the matter.
In another news, the people of the Ogwuaniocha community in the Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State on Tuesday stormed the government house to protest the alleged abduction of their traditional ruler, Igwe Oliver Nnaji.
The protesters, who bore placards with various inscriptions, marched along Enugu-Onitsha expressway to the Governor’s Office and the state judiciary headquarters in Awka.
Some of the placards read: ” Gov.Willie Obiano rescue Igwe Oliver Nnaji from captivity”, “Ogwuaniocha Community Cries Out for Help”, “Chief Judge reassign our community case to a neutral judge”, among others.
Spokesperson and the President-General of the Community, Mr Chidi Eze, alleged that the monarch was abducted from his palace on November 15 by a notorious group.
