Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, has reacted to the sack of Gernot Rohr as Super Eagles head coach by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.
Osimhen wished Rohr, who was in charge of the Super Eagles for more than five years, all the best.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that NFF appointed Augustine Eguavoen, currently, its Technical Director, as the Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles on an interim basis following the Gernot Rohr.
The Franco-German had been in charge since 2016, leading the team to the 2018 World Cup and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria finished third.
However, the performance of the team over the last 12 months made his position untenable, despite qualifying the team for next year’s AFCON and the 2022 World Cup playoffs.
Osimhen wrote on social media: “Thank you for everything coach and I wish you all the best.”
The 22-year-old made his Super Eagles debut under Rohr in 2017 and has now become the country’s undisputed talisman.
Osimhen scored 10 goals in 19 games under Rohr.
