Kano-Kaduna kidnap syndicate

Kano State police have apprehended two notorious kidnappers who have been terrorizing motorists on the Kano-Kaduna highway.

DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the command’s spokesman, confirmed this in a press statement. The arrests were made in two separate operations led by SP Shehu Dahiru, he added.

“A team of policemen led by SP Shehu Dahiru while on intelligence-led patrol arrested 25-year-old Adamu Shehu of Sabon Gari Safara via Kwanar Dangora in Kiru LGA.

“The suspect admitted coordinating a series of kidnapping operations both in Falgore forest and Dansoshiya forest,” he said.

Kiyawa explained that the suspect was responsible for the gruesome killing of a volunteer vigilante member, one Ibrahim Shu’aibu after he raped his wife in early 2020.

He added that the team has also succeeded in arresting 26-year-old Shuaibu Isah while on a follow-up intelligence report across the Falgore area.

He said the suspect confessed to having been involved in a series of kidnappings within Kano, Kaduna and Nassarawa States, including the kidnapping of one Asmau Alh Sule of Falgore town, Doguwa LGA Kano State, in August 2021.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Police Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko has ordered a discreet investigation to track and arrest the remaining suspects.

He said the suspects will be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation.
