As the battle against COVID-19 continues, Nigeria has recorded 828 new cases of deadly disease in 13 states and the federal capital territory, Abuja.
The COVID-19 result was announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its daily update for Saturday, December 18.
A breakdown of new cases showed that Rivers state recorded the highest number of new infections with 188 new positive samples, followed closely by Lagos with 183 and Delta with 97.
Other states that reported new infections include the FCT (82), Oyo (67), Edo (54), Ekiti (34), Plateau (34), Kano (27), Anambra (22), Kaduna (19), Enugu (12), Ogun (5), and Kwara (4).
With no coronavirus-related deaths reported on Saturday, the fatality toll remains 2,984.
Meanwhile, 149 patients were confirmed to have been discharged across the country on Saturday. With the new figure, the total number of COVID-19 recoveries in Nigeria stands at 211,522.
Out of 223,483 coronavirus infections that have been confirmed in Nigeria, there are currently 8,977 active cases being managed across states.
