Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, yesterday, restated his administration’s commitment to collaborate with communities on provision of infrastructure and security to ensure safety of life and property, especially during the Yuletide seasons.
In his address at the grand finale of the 2021 Community Day Celebration, with the theme, “Consolidating the Ongoing Developments In Our Various Communities” organised by the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs in Lagos, Sanwo-Olu said the state government would continue to consolidate on the ongoing development in various communities in the state.
The governor thanked the Community Development Associations (CDAs), which had over time increased to 4,100, assuring them that developmental projects were ongoing in all the 377 wards across the state.
He listed some of the developmental projects embarked on by the administration to include roads, provision of healthcare facilities and nearly completed Imota Rice Mill, among others.
Meanwhile, Tangerine Africa, a leading financial services company leading the way in designing financial tools and services that are accessible to everyone, has partnered with a youth-led Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), African Steel Mill, which through its Evergreen Project( ASTEP), yesterday launched the planting of 1,000 trees across Lagos State.
The event was graced by Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment, Mr. Tunji Bello and other dignitaries from across the state.
The governor, in his remarks, commended the initiative, stating the importance of tree planting in the environment.
He urged the people to change their mindset by preserving their environment, pushing and encouraging similar laudable initiatives.
Also, Chairman of the co-sponsor of the ASTEP Tree Initiative Tangerine Africa, Mr. Eric Idiaghe, said Tangerine Africa chose to support the initiative to protect the environment by reducing waste, saving energy and conserving water.
