18-year-old suspected robber, Mamus Obine has been arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Asaba, added that the command also recovered ammunition from the suspect.
He said, “On December 21, 2021, operatives attached to the Eagle-Net Special Squad, while on a routine stop-and-search along the Ughelli/Warri Road, intercepted a motorcycle with two male occupants.
“On sighting the police, the passenger alighted from the motorcycle and ran into a nearby bush.
“The police gave him a hot chase, which led to the arrest of the suspect, Mamus Obine, aged 18years, from Agbarho, in the Ughelli North LGA of Delta State.”
Edafe said upon searching the bag the suspect was carrying, one locally-made double-barreled pistol and 10 live cartridges were recovered.
He said preliminary investigation later revealed that the suspect operated with two other suspects, identified as Austin and Thankgod.
The police PRO explained that the suspect confessed that he was after one Kingsley, whom he had issues of money-sharing with after a man was defrauded of N800,000 through Internet fraud.
He added that the suspect was about to attack the said Kingsley when the police intercepted and arrested him.
