The Osun State House of Assembly has confirmed the request of the state governor for an extension to another six months, the tenure of local government caretaker management committees in the state.
The confirmation was carried out at Friday’s plenary which was presided over by Timothy Owoeye, the House Speaker.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Babatunde Festus Komolafe after diligent scrutiny of the earlier government request for tenure elongation for the local government caretaker committees had laid its report before the House during Friday’s plenary.
The motion for the confirmation of the tenure elongation was moved by the Majority Leader, Maruf Olanrewaju and seconded by Festus Komolafe.
Recall that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, had on Monday, December 20, 2021, written to the House of Assembly seeking tenure elongation for the current local government caretaker committee members.
Speaker Owoeye had also on Monday during plenary forwarded the Governor’s request to the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs with an ultimatum of 72 hours to work on the Governor’s request.
