The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Taraba State Command has confirmed the arrest of two accused water pump cable vandals.
Both suspects were apprehended on Christmas Eve in Jalingo, according to the State Commandant, Ugwuja Edwin, who made the announcement while parading the suspect at the state command headquarters.
Other individuals apprehended in connection with other crimes were also paraded by the command.
He claimed the retrieved cables belong to the State Water and Sewerage Corporation, and that the command’s Rapid Response Team (RRT) clamped down on the suspects (TAWASCO).
The commandant, who confirmed that the arrest was made in coordination with vigilantes, stated that the command would not rest on its oars until the state was free of hoodlums.
The NSCDC said the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed.
Assuring residents of the state a hitch-free yuletide, no fewer than 1,550 NSCDC officers, he said have been deployed to the nooks and crannies of the state to forestall any outbreak of law and order during and after the festivities.
He asked the public not to hesitate to make available to the command, genuine information that would lead to the arrest of persons perpetrating evil in the state.
