The 2019 governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), Chief Uche Nwosu, was arrested, the police in Imo State said on Sunday.
WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported how Uche Nwosu was whisked away from a church service at his hometown, Eziama Obieri in the Nkwerre Local Government Area of the state.
Meanwhile, Imo State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Michael Abattam, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), said Nwosu was in custody.
According to him “Nwosu was arrested by the police, not kidnapped as insinuated in the social media.”
Abattam said it was in connection with “a case that is under investigation.”
However, for now he did not give further details of the arrest of Nwosu or the circumstances surrounding his arrest.
Similarly, the state commissioner for Information and strategy, Declan Emelumba has said that the governor had no hand in what happened.
