Mr. Promise Nnawali, a former commander of the OSPAC vigilante group in Igwuruta community, Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State, was arrested in November 2020 after being proclaimed sought by the police for the alleged murder of two individuals.
Nnawali is accused of murdering Princewill Ogbondah and Peter Opurum, whose bodies have yet to be discovered, but escaped when the victims’ relatives raised the alarm and reported him to the police.
He was then declared a wanted man by the police.
Mr. Goodluck Ogbondah, a sibling of one of the victims, confirmed Nnawali’s detention. He commended the military for aiding his arrest.
However, Mr. Ogbondah urged the security agencies to prevail on Nnawali to show the families of the deceased where the remains of their brothers were dumped.
He also advised the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Friday Eboka to resist attempts by public figures in the area to compromise the investigation.
The Rivers State Police Command had on the 21st of November, 2020 declared Mr. Promise Nnawali wanted for killing two men in Iguwuruta.
