Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, has said the state has concluded plans to reintroduce school governing boards.
Recall that the last administration headed by Senator Abiola Ajimobi introduced school governing boards in all public secondary schools in the state some years ago.
The boards were created to assist in the running of the schools but Governor Seyi Makinde who took over from Ajimobi in 2019 later scrapped the school governing boards.
Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, who spoke with journalists on Thursday, explained that the governing boards were cancelled when the ministry of education discovered abnormalities in the system.
Olatubosun, while speaking during a guest forum platform organised by Correspondents’ chapel in Ibadan, said the ministry has now concluded plans to reintroduce the program.
“There were many irregularities that the ministry discovered.
“The ministry advised that we should stop it. They discovered some irregularities.
“But now the state has concluded plans to reintroduce it.
“The ministry has studied it and is working on it”.
