Super Eagles interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen has said that his team will approach their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, Round of 16 tie against Tunisia the same way they did against Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau.
Nigeria will face Tunisia in the AFCON last-16 on Sunday night following the conclusion of the Group stages matches on Thursday.
Eguavoen’s men had defeated Egypt 1-0, Sudan 3-1 and Guinea-Bissau 2-0 in the group stages.
Nigeria’s reward for finishing top of Group D is a second-round clash with Tunisia, who finished as one of the four best third-placed teams.
Ahead of the last-16 tie on Sunday, Eguavoen revealed that his team would play with the same passion and style they have shown in the tournament, adding that they will also practice penalties.
“Going into the round of 16, same approach, same system, same aggression, and we are going to train more on penalties,” Eguavoen said at his post-match press conference after Nigeria defeated Guinea-Bissau.
Nigeria will go into the match against Tunisia as the favourites because of their current form in the tournament.
The Super Eagles defeated Tunisia in the third-place match of the AFCON 2019 in Egypt, thanks to Odion Ighalo’s early goal.
