Ahmed Musa, the captain of the Super Eagles, told President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday that he and his teammates will make Nigeria proud when they face Tunisia in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, Round of 16 match in Cameroon.
Musa also thanked Buhari for taking time out of his hectic schedule to wish Augustine Eguavoen’s team well as they face Tunisia in the AFCON last-16 on Sunday night.
The former Leicester City forward talked to the President through video conference from Cameroon.
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that others present during the video conference include Super Eagles coach, Augustine Eguavoen, President of Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Sunday Dare, and among others.
“Sir, we really appreciate your time that you give to us. It is not that easy to speak with the President of the federal republic of Nigeria,” Musa said.
“Sir, I don’t have much to say other than to promise you that we are going out today to make Nigeria proud.
“It is not that easy to have the blessing of the father of the nation, it is not that easy. We really appreciate your time.
Musa added, “Honorable minister [Sunday Dare], we really appreciate your work, our presido [Amaju Pinnick] we really thank you, we are hoping to see you later, so that alter to celebrate with us after the game.”
