The Bauchi office of the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), said it sealed off no fewer than 10 illegal petrol stations in the state for alleged violation of rules.
Abdullahi Iliyasu, the NMDPRA’s Controller of Operations, in an interview on Thursday said the petrol stations were sealed for the breach of safety measures such as non-provision of fire extinguishers as well as sand buckets.
He noted that some of the sanctioned filling stations were caught shortchanging customers by under-delivering products to consumers.
“We are investigating the matter for appropriate measures,” the official said.
He assured that the agency would continue to intensify efforts on surveillance and routine inspection of all petroleum outlets to stop the diversion of products.
“Regular surveillance and inspection will prevent diversion of products and ensure unhindered delivery of manifested products to designated filling stations.”
