Man who ran away from police cell remanded in prison till further notice in Osogbo

Amosun Abodunrin, 33, was remanded in Osogbo Magistrates’ Court for stealing and fleeing from a police cell.

The Police Prosecutor, Inspection Olayiwola Rasaq, told the court that the accused committed the crime on August 6, 2019, at approximately 2:00 p.m. at Owo-Eye street, Oke Onitea Area Sabo, Osogbo.

He said the accused person stole 48,000 and 1,044,500 cefa equivalent of N996,500.

He explained that the offence committed is contrary and punishable under section 411 (1 and 2) 34 vol.11 laws of Osun State of Nigeria.

After his arrest, the prosecutor further alleged that the accused person, on September 5, 2019 at about 10:30 at Dugbe police station old Garage Area, Osogbo did escape from Police cell.

The accused, thereby, committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 135 of criminal code CAP 34 vol.11 law of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.

The Defence Council, Amosun Abodunrin pleaded with the court to grant the accused person bail in liberal terms.

However, Magistrate A.A Adegbaye ordered the accused person to be remanded in prison till further notice.
