Sergio Ramos, a Paris Saint-Germain defender, may be forced to retire from football, according to Le Parisien.
Ramos has spent the last year fighting to be fit, but might now have to quit the sport.
The Spaniard has only managed to make five appearances for PSG since he joined from Real Madrid last year, completing 90 minutes just twice.
Ramos, who turns 36 next month, is currently recovering from a calf injury and is expected to miss their Champions League last-16 first leg clash against his former team on February 15.
He could also struggle to make the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The injury Ramos is currently recovering from, is very similar to the one he sustained at the end of last season, ruling him out for Real Madrid’s title run-in and Champions League semi-final defeat to Chelsea and leading Luis Enrique to leave him out of Spain’s squad for Euro 2020.
The only difference is that it is in the right leg rather than the left, meaning the calf muscles in both of his legs have taken a serious beating in the last year.
