Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have recovered a Lexus ES 330 car stolen from a parking spot at Ilasan, along Lekki-Epe Expressway, and arrested one Mumuni in connection with the stolen car.
The vehicle was said to have been stolen around 10pm on Saturday, January 29 and all efforts to locate it that night proved abortive.
A police report on the incident indicated that policemen attached to the Ikorodu division recovered the vehicle the following day after a tip-off.
It stated, “It was recovered at a tipper garage in Igbogbo, Ikorodu. One suspect was arrested in connection with the stolen vehicle and he is currently helping police detectives in their investigation.”
PUNCH reported that the suspect claimed he was not aware the car was stolen.
The state police spokesperson, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, said the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, had ordered further investigation into the case.
“The CP has directed that the case should be transferred to the command’s Special Squad for further diligent investigation with a view to arresting other members of the gang responsible for the crime,” Ajisebutu said.
