The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the N66 billion refund claim by the 36 state governors against the Buhari Government.

The ruling was part of the judgment by the apex court on Executive Order 010, which six of the seven justices declared as unconstitutional.

The 36 states governors in the suit sought an order of the court to compel the Federal Government to take up funding of capital projects for State High Courts, Sharia Court of Appeal, and Customary Court of Appeal, since they are federal courts.

They also applied for an order of the apex court to compel the Federal Government to pay them N66 billion, being the money they have so far spent on capital projects for the three courts.

In their submission, the governors said since the courts are courts of the Federation, the funding of their capital project should flow from the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the Federation.
