For ignoring a man who was asking her for the time, a teenage girl has been stabbed on a train.
The 19-year-old was stabbed with a knife and she suffered a wound to her arm.
The incident occured on a No. 1 train in Washington Heights, Upper Manhattan, in New York, in the US, in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The unnamed victim was with her boyfriend when the stranger approached them both, according to NYPD.
Investigators say he repeated the question multiple times before briefly turning away – but then turned back and knifed the girl.
She was rushed to New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia in stable condition.
The suspect is said to have fled the train.
It was just one of the stabbings to occur in the Upper Manhattan and Bronx areas overnight, reports the New York Post.
At least three other people are said to have also been knifed, police said.
Around 15 minutes after the train attack, a man, aged 39, was stabbed in the neck during a dispute with another man in Kingsbridge Heights, the Bronx.
He was taken to Barnabas Hospital in a stable condition, but the suspect fled.
Photos at the scene show blood splattered across the floor.
In another incident, a 24-year-old man was knifed from behind in his back and right thigh around midnight as he walked in Hamilton Heights.
He was taken to Harlem Hospital in a stable condition but police said he was uncooperative with their investigations.
