Armed hoodlums have killed four policemen on stop-and-search duty in Obeagu community, along Amaechi-Ekeotu-Agbani Town Road, Enugu state
The incident, which reportedly happened at about 3pm on Saturday left the road deserted till 7pm.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that barely two days gunmen killed three policemen at a checkpoint near Ulumalinda Estate by Maryland suburb of the Enugu South Local Government Area of the state.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, who confirmed the development but did not give the number of the casualties said, “Police operatives have been duly deployed and are on the trail of the unknown armed assailants.
“You will be updated with further development, please,” he added.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, some of the tricycle operators plying the road, who spoke on condition of anonymity said that armed hoodlums came in a Sienna car and a Lexus Jeep and opened fire on the unsuspecting policemen on duty.
