The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the Saturday, chairmanship election in Abaji area council of Abuja.
It was the second council won by the ruling party, after Gwagwalada council.
The INEC returning officer at Abaji, Prof Gabriel Mordi, who announced the result at the commission office on Sunday, said the yet-to-be known APC candidate scored 7, 289 votes.
He defeated the opposition PDP, Alhaji Yahaya Garba Gawu, who got 4, 062 votes.
Prof Mordi, said the APC winner will be announced after the determination of the case before the Supreme court in Abuja.
An APC chairmanship aspirant in the area, Abubakar Umar Abdullahi, filed an appeal at the Supreme court, after an FCT High court and the Appeal court nullified his candidature.
Declared as the lawful candidate is Alhaji Mohammed Angulu Loko, who won the April 23, 2021 primaries.
