Nigeria has recorded 8 new cases of the deadly disease, Coronavirus in two states and the federal capital territory, Abuja.
The COVID-19 result was announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its daily update for Saturday, February 12, 2022.
The figure is the country’s lowest single-day count since January 22, 2022 when 29 cases were reported.
A breakdown of new cases showed that the federal capital territory (FCT) recorded the highest number of fresh infections with four positive samples, followed by Rivers and Kaduna with three and one, respectively.
According to the figures published by the NCDC, Lagos, the epicentre of the pandemic, did not record any new case within the past 24 hours.
One person was confirmed to have died of COVID-19 complications on Saturday, bringing the death toll to 3,141.
Six patients were discharged on Saturday after recovering from the infection, raising the country’s total recovery figure to 230,323.
A total of 253,978 coronavirus infections have now been confirmed across the country.
