Security guard arrested for tearing Qur’an in Kano

A security guard has been arrested by operatives of Kano Hisbah Board for allegedly tearing off and stepping on portions of the Holy Quran.

The man said to be in his early 20s was rescued from being lynched by members of his community at the Kuntau area of Kano metropolis, and subsequently handed over to the police.

The state police spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident happened on Sunday February 20, and that the suspect is in police custody.

WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that three women were arraigned before a Sharia Court in Gusau, Zamfara State over alleged desecration of the Holy Qur’an.

The suspects allegedly desecrated the Holy Qur’an by staining it with blood collected after childbirth and throwing it inside a toilet.
