The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed that Ibrahim Saidu, 25, was arrested for fatally stabbing a motorcyclist, Saleh Babayo, after accidentally knocking down his dog.

At a press briefing in Gombe, Commissioner of Police Ishola Babaita said Saidu was apprehended by operatives from the Akko Division, where the incident occurred.

“Saidu became aggressive and stabbed Saleh Babayo, which resulted in his untimely death, simply because the victim mistakenly knocked down his dog with his motorcycle.’’

Babayo was taken to the General Hospital in Kumo, where a medical doctor confirmed his death, according to the commissioner.

He went on to say that the suspect had confessed to the crime and that he would be charged to court soon.

The dog was unharmed in the collision and was paraded alongside the suspect at the police command.
