Senator Umar Al-Makura has stated that he will expand women’s political fortunes if elected as national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was stated on Tuesday by Senator Al-Makura in his goodwill message to the Nigerian women on the occasion of the 2022 International Women’s Day.
He said despite women’s demographic strength, voting power and the credible manner most of them in high positions had distinguished themselves, they were yet to get opportunities in governance commensurate with their contributions to the nation’s development.
“It’s a fact that no party, no people and no nation can attain its goals without giving women their deserved place as a key demographic and agents of change.
“They’re the political mobilisers, they constitute a large chunk of the voting population and have acquitted themselves most creditably in the positions of authority and trust. They, therefore, deserve better,” he said
The former governor of Nasarawa State commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC for their commitment to the cause of the Nigerian women, saying they had laid the foundation for women mainstreaming.
