Ralf Rangnick, Manchester United’s interim manager, has listed the players who will miss his team’s Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening at Old Trafford.
Rangnick stated that Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay will not play for Manchester United against Tottenham because he does not want to risk them.
Rangnick’s men head to the game following a 4-1 defeat to Manchester City in their last Premier League encounter.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Rangnick said, “Luke [Shaw] will still be out. Until yesterday, he was still testing positive [for Covid] even though he was negative today. Without having trained and having some symptoms, it doesn’t make sense to have him in the squad for this game. Hopefully, he will be a candidate for Tuesday but for tomorrow’s game he will be out.
“There’s also a question mark behind Scott McTominay. He had some calf problems after training yesterday and the day before yesterday, so we didn’t let him train. Currently, I don’t want to take the risk in playing him tomorrow with this kind of injury so those two will probably be out.”
Man United are currently in the 5th position on the Premier League table behind Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.
The kick-off time for Man United vs Tottenham is 6.30 pm.
