Deadly air strike hits Kyiv ahead of new Russia-Ukraine talks

An airstrike on a residential building in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, has killed at least one person ahead of new negotiations with Russia.

During the Russian soldiers’ onslaught, hundreds of civilians were hurt, according to the country’s emergency services.

According to reports, Russian soldiers drew closer to the city and continued their siege on Mariupol, a southern port city where officials estimate that nearly 2,200 people have been murdered so far.

“As of 7:40 am (0540 GMT) one person was found dead in a nine-storey apartment building” in the capital’s Obolon district, the emergency service said in a statement, on Monday.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian and Russian representatives are expected to meet via videoconference for peace talks on Monday (today).
