Kano State Governor, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, has dissolved the leadership of the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, KACCIMA, with immediate effect for failing to conduct fresh elections following the expiration of their tenure.
The Governor frowned at the fired executive officials’ sit-tight attitude and ordered their immediate departure.
According to a statement signed by the Secretary to the Kano State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, the action was necessary due to the incumbent leadership of the body’s inability to conduct a fresh and appropriate election long after their tenure had expired.
According to the statement, Governor Ganduje has already approved the formation of a nine-member caretaker committee chaired by an industrialist, Alhaji Lawan Sale Garo.
The terms of reference of the committee, among others, are to organize elections within six months, as well to restore peace and sanity in the entire activities of the chamber.
Other committee members include Ambassador Muktari Gashash as co-chair, representative of the Ministry of Commerce, Dr Salim Saleh Muhammad, Alhaji Yakubu Uba, Alhaji Tijjani Usman, Alh. Kabiru Hamisu Kura, Hajiya Aisha, Sulaiman Baffa, Alhaji Bashir Dado and Bauran Gaya.
While making his remarks, the committee chairman, Garo expressed appreciation to the Governor for the confidence reposed in them and assured that the committee would work assiduously to achieve the set goals within the stipulated period.
