COVID-19: Nigeria records 91 fresh infections in eight states, FCT

Nigeria has recorded 91 new cases of deadly viral disease named COVID in eight states and the federal capital territory, Abuja.

The COVID-19 result was announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its update for Wednesday, March 16, 2021.

According to the agency’s report, the infections were reported in eight states and the federal capital territory (FCT).

Lagos topped the list of new infections with 32 cases, followed by the FCT with 24 infections and Ekiti with 23.

Other states that recorded cases are Rivers (6), Delta (2), Jigawa (2), Kaduna (1), Oyo (1), Plateau (1).

The agency’s data showed that 84 persons have been discharged since Monday after recovering from the infection.

There is no record of fatality for the 21 days in a row.

The country has so far recorded 255,092 cases, 249,457 recoveries and 3,142 fatalities in the 36 states and the FCT.

The agency said it will no longer provide COVID updates daily, but only three times a week.

“Effective TODAY, Nigeria’s daily #COVID19 case updates will now be shared on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays,” the NCDC wrote on Facebook.

“However, we will continue to closely monitor the national and global trends of the disease.”
