Man allegedly cheats company for eight years, steals N22m goods

Chijioke Okoro, 39, has been charged with stealing N22,046,695 worth of items from an online company called Konga before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ikeja, Lagos State.

Okoro allegedly defrauded the internet firm in Akilo, Ogba, between October 2013 and August 2021, according to PUNCH Metro.

He was charged with two counts of theft and cheating by deception.

The charges read, “That you, Chijioke Okoro, from October 2013 to August 20, 2021, at No 3b, Cocoa Road, Akilo area of Ogba, Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did unlawfully steal goods worth N22,046,695, property of Konga Online Shopping Limited.

“That you, Chijioke Okoro, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned magisterial district, did fraudulently trick and cheat Konga Online Shopping Limited with their goods valued at N22,046,695.23, thereby committing an offence.”

According to the police, the offences contravene sections 286 and 323 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

Okoro pleaded not guilty to the charges and was admitted to bail.

The Chief Magistrate, S.K Matepo, adjourned the matter till March 28, 2022.
