Bako Gorgore, a key commander of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP), is anticipated to take over as the next leader.
Following the killing of the late Wali (Head) Sani Shuwaram, the terrorist will assume the role.
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that the Nigerian army annihilated Shuwaram in a hideaway in Kirta Wulgo in Borno State’s Marte Local Government Area.
After an Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission, the Air Force targeted ISWAP camps.
Shuwaram died months after installation in Kurnawa, Lake Chad. In attendance were emissaries from ISIS.
The 45-year-old had succeeded Malam Bako, who led in an acting capacity until his death.
Bako took over from Abu Musab Al-Barnawi, the late leader and son of Boko Haram founder, Mohammed Yusuf.
Shuwaram was the fifth officially recognised head of ISWAP. Other predecessors were Mamman Nur, Abba-Gana and Abu-Dawud, all deceased.
